I’m trying something new. Think of this chapter as literary show-notes for the Pragmagick Radio Hour audiocast with Wren Collier, and think of the audiocast as an audiomantic footnote to these literary shownotes. There are magicks and arts separate from one another, but together they form a multi-media third mind, or thirdscene (∴).

Ghastly Ghost Gematria!
∴ The Rites & Decipher of The Prospectre
The Prospectre Ritual began, as all the other hauntomancy dim sessions had, with occultnik liminal rites akin to the intentions and performance of the custom ritual…
First, a deep altar cleanse, as the altar became my preternatural radiotower to the unseen realms, and as with all technologies, upkeep is essential. The altar is forever dressed with my ever-evolving personally haunted bric-a-brac: owl masks, coyote bones and fur, taxidermy bat spiced Santisma Muerte-cum-Hekate Skelter ephemera.
Then, I said my praytells, conjured my intentions and sparked jagged orange and purple candles. As the crooked candelabra began to ignite the altar’s necromantic and ancestral folkloric photos, I began to meditate in the rhythms of the spinning fires. And as the altar enshrined itself in the preternatural dark of the Dimming Room, I knelt before it. I reached for a certain paper and certain pen beside me when the moans and whispers of the air came into focus and drew a sigil of the performance circle, replete with my musickal sceptres correspondences to extra & terra-coordinates.1
With the sigilised blueprint, I began to construct the performance circle, or ritual pulpit, with the technologies chosen, and placed them in their constellations. This time a brand new drum set would be my physical anchor and host of my primal beat into the neither/neither, and my voice would channel intuitive grunts and howls to communicate with the Spirit Box. Ectogasm’s experimental tuning, which conspired to help illustrate new ventures of somatic whisps, would be chosen whenever my ghost saw fit. At the appropriate moment, I initiated the SpiritBox, placed the headphones on, and sat at my drum. Below is this moment illustrated by my thorough transcription and ALW cipher decipher of the Spirit Box’s transmission.
The following excerpts are my discoveries, both poetic and literal, of the Prospectre Ritual’s Spirit Box Transmissions and their ALW Gematria correspondences. The Prospectre Ritual’s GhostBox Transmissions’ gematria was calculated according to the ALW Cipher itself, my Agent Key of personal calculations, the keys and findings of Listening Post Alpha Agents, and NAEQ.IO (An ALW Cipher Online Gematria Calculator).

Perhaps the MOUTH (73) of SATURN (73) is agape in an initiatory HEADLESS (73) rite, such as depicted in Goya’s “Saturn Devouring His Son,” and to let go of worry is the KEY or CROWN (49) for I, the Virgin (93) practitioner SCRYING (93) through this ritual.

Perhaps it is telling me that I am an aspect (Aspectre? 131 = WE THE HALLOWED, ASPECTRE, HAUNTOMANCY) of G-d? This working was the third Hauntomancy working to close the ASPECTRE (131) working into the PROSPECTRE (175 = A.O.S, ,MY NAME HIDDEN, MY NAME NUIT, MY UNVEILING, UNIVERSAL HEART) working:

The Other seems to enjoy the raucous, perhaps stating that they are a pleasant MAN or HEAD (36) among the aforementioned HEADLESS (73); Saturn’s SUN (36) not son? Multiple SOULS (36)

Perhaps this Audiomancy/Prospectre working is confirmation of my own HEADLESS RITE (157) to consort my HGA. MAN = 36 = AIWASS, Crowley’s HGA.
The ramblings of a madman to the uninitiated, the findings of a fellow Agent to the Other. But first, what is the ALW Cipher? Why am I using it to transcribe SpiritBox transmissions?
The ALW Cipher & The Holy Guardian Angle
∴ Listening Post Alpha’s techniques mutated
As stated in the previous chapter, Sever Tether Revelator, I had long ruminated on the use of the Spirit Box in my audiomancy Dim Sessions, so the Prospectre Working’s inclusion of the paranormal tool was inevitable. However, I had never even considered the use of the ALW Cipher to decode its transmissions if it weren’t for the liminal agents of the LPA.
Granted, true initiation to agent-dom of Listening Post Alpha would be performed in the Holy Days of April, a time after the Prospectre working, and one that wasn’t audiomantic but more of a direct tit-for-tat communion with the ghost box’s transmissions. Two, in fact, sessions that occurred sequentially that’s findings are revelatory concerning the idea of a Holy Guardian Angel, or what I cal the supra-spectre: A supreme self outside of temporal confines, an ideal self.
But, before we launch into the initiatory acts of my LPA communions, I had experimented with some of the rubric of the LPA to decode the Prospectre Ritual. A 14 page beatific-jazz-script that weaves my present self’s audiomantic actions and intentions with the ghostbox’s transmissions, now with my decoding of said transmissions utilizing the mysterious ALW cipher: a gematria I had seldom heard about and never investigated until this year…
Crowley Qabbalah Ciphers
∴ The ALW Gematria Casters
“The order & value of the letters in the ALW Cipher are derived from the grid superimposed on one of the pages of manuscript of Liber AL (Aleister Crowley) on which this verse appears (sheet 16 of Chapter III).”
To be honest, the ALW Cipher’s origins still elude me. It is often referred to as English Qabbala - a somewhat specific current of use that has come with its own baggage and rubrics. Bob Ra of Listening Post Alpha shuns the EQ terminology as a means to keep it at its purest form: a tool free from the confines of hierarchical magickal orders such as the English Qabballa.
The English Qabballa (with a Q to delineate itself from the Jewish Kabbalah) has a storied history of psychical archaeology and whip-smart deconstruction from academics and mages alike, such as the late-great Jake Stratton Kent, who defined the gematria as a qabalah and not just a system of numerology; “A qabalah is specifically related to three factors: one, a language; two, a 'holy' text or texts; three, mathematical laws at work in these two."
The ALW Cipher origin lore, as I understand it, is simply a mysteriously sketched grid from Crowley in his manuscript of Liber AL. An otherwise unassuming doodle to the layman without fanfare, explanation or additional notes itself. But leave it to the tether conductors and madcap coincidence squashers that are academic and practicing occultniks to unearth a secret alphabet from such a (seemingly) innocuous sketch. And boy howdy, did they find something truly fascinating…

Thelemites believe the book of the law should ideally only be printed in Crowley's hand-written version, because the books says there are messages in the chance shapes Crowley's handwriting made, or any shapes he adds to the pages. Believers in New Aeon English Qabalah, following the ideas explained by Carol Smith, feel that reading any diagonal across the square one gets the order of the English alphabet to be used in the English Qaballa. Whichever diagonal is read the order of the letters is obtained.”
I immediately began scratching at Bob Ra’s Listening Post Alpha and radiating works with the sort of glossy-eyed glee akin to child discovering a new toy.2 I had assumed I was to keep countless note books scribbled with equations while inducting myself into this niche concept, but I was half-right. Granted, I do have living documents almost daily tended to with a lexicon of personal words, phrases, aphorisms, colloquialisms, idioms and their ALW numbers - but what jump started the lassoing of this spiritual archaeology was something quite modern... in-browser software!

Wren Collier, a storied ufology researcher, occult practitioner, and general rad-brained rambler authored the online New Aeon English Qabalah (ALW Cipher) gematria calculator, NAEQ.IO, with techgnosistitician and glitch-witch, Alynne Keith. A simple tool that calculates the numerical value of the cipher from any word or phrase prompt. It has been my most used techno-magickal tool since decoding my hauntomancy workings, such as the Prospectre Ritual, since.3
Wren Collier is an occultist and Thelemite living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is a frequent contributor on the "Where Did The Road Go?" podcast, as well as contributing to projects like NAEQ.IO and the Lunar Cry occult community. It is rare that this analog/digital daemon dips into the software pool of occult tools, but this one is as simple and as extraordinarily useful without impeding many processes that are often sacrificed in technological magicks by their lonesome.4 It could be argued that the long process of equating the words with paper and long-maths is a deeply held praxis, and to that I agree, however, it is simply a tool for me within a barrage of majorly physical processes within my workings. I’ve done both, but love to love the simple calculator to allow for passing thoughts or walking epiphanies to be quickly computed and logged in my lexicon.
I spoke to Wren Collier about his creation of the NAEQ.IO tool, the ALW Cipher’s origins, but I believe most importantly, who or what we are channeling within these Great Works? Is it the other, ultraterrestrial or ghost, the temporally displaced self, or preternatural pareidolia…

“In the air for some body” is perhaps a question? And the answer is 93 (KEATS ROSS). “Up Chuck” (99) also correlates to DAKOTA SLIM (99) - my musical moniker for decades and a heteronym often used to commune via audiomancy. This almost reads like a confirmation of who is reaching out to them. Through these Haunt Manual workings, I often venerate MEDJED (99) the Egyptian bardo-jumper as a folkloric vessel for the workings. “Safe” (49) could signify the KEY (49) or CROWN (49) bestowed to the communion of KEATS ROSS, DAKOTA SLIM and MEDJED. At face value, the Prospectre could also be simply attesting that communion with KEATS ROSS (93) or DAKOTA SLIM (99) is a SAFE (49) venture.

Soul!
“4D Soul” (41) could be the explanation of the Prospectre itself, for the fourth dimension is in fact TIME (93) which further illustrates a prospect of KEATS ROSS (93) I am communicating with! Or, an ultraterrestrial being that haunts the 4D planes - one that revels in trickery and mind-fuckery - either way, this is absolutely fascinating.
